How to convert PDF to JPG

    1. Choose the format. JPG gives small files and suits photos and scans. PNG is lossless and keeps text and line drawings perfectly crisp.
    2. Choose the resolution. 150 dpi is enough for screens and most uploads. 300 dpi is print quality, and 72 dpi gives small preview images.
    3. Optional: pick pages. Leave the page field empty for all pages, or type ranges such as 1-3, 7.
    4. Drop the PDF. Each page appears with its size and a download button. With several pages, Download all as ZIP saves them in one go.

    Which resolution do I need?

An A4 page at 150 dpi becomes an image of about 1240 × 1754 pixels, which is sharp on any screen and readable when zoomed in. At 300 dpi it is about 2480 × 3508 pixels, the standard for printing and for OCR software. At 72 dpi it is 595 × 842 pixels, good for thumbnails. The DPI value is also written into each file, so printing programs use the right physical size.

    Typical uses

    • Posting a flyer, menu or certificate on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp, which do not accept PDFs.
    • Putting a page of a report into PowerPoint, Word or Google Slides as a picture.
    • Uploading a document to a form that only accepts JPG or PNG.
    • Making a preview image or thumbnail of the first page.

    Example

A 3-page menu.pdf converted to JPG at 150 dpi gives menu-1.jpg, menu-2.jpg and menu-3.jpg, each 1240 × 1754 pixels and typically 250–500 KB. Page numbers are padded for longer documents (report-01.jpg to report-24.jpg), so the files stay in order in every folder.

    Privacy and quality

Pages are rendered with Mozilla's pdf.js, the same engine that displays PDFs in Firefox, so fonts, vector graphics and images look as they do in a PDF reader. It all happens in your browser: the PDF is not uploaded and nothing is stored.

Going the other way? Use JPG to PDF. Need smaller images afterwards? The image compressor reduces them further.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this PDF to JPG converter free?

Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit. Everything runs in your browser.

    Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and rendered on your own device. It is never uploaded or stored.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages in the Pages field, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert all pages.

Should I choose JPG or PNG?

JPG for scans and photos, because the files are small. PNG for text, diagrams and screenshots, because it is lossless and stays perfectly sharp.

What resolution should I use for printing?

300 dpi. For screens, social media and upload forms 150 dpi is enough.

    Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, then convert the file.
